I don’t have any previous dance experience. Can I still join?
ABSOLUTELY! Most of our performers had little to no dance experience before joining the group. We welcome everyone and take time to teach each person the basics at their own pace.
Do I need to have German heritage to join?
Nope! Like the GAK, we do not require any of our members to have German heritage. We welcome everyone from all backgrounds!
How do I join?
Reach out to us, or just show up at practice! We practice weekly on Wednesday evenings from 7PM-8:30PM at the German American Klub (except for the 2nd Wednesday of each month).
What kind of dances do you perform?
We typically perform and teach German & Austrian folk dances. Our dance catalog includes well over 40 dances of varying complexity. Most of our performances involve a mixture of traditional dance presentation and audience participation/teaching dances. Check out our media gallery to see a sampling of our dances!
How far will you travel to perform?
We will travel anywhere within the state of Indiana; however, we always get feedback from our performers before committing to any performance.
How much do you charge for a performance?
Our performance fees depend on four factors: (1) length of performance time/# of sets, (2) type of event, (3) performance style requested, and (4) distance needed to travel. The typical performance cost is about $200-$300. Partial payment can also be made in trade-out value (i.e. food & drink credit at the event). How are you affiliated with the German American Klub of Indianapolis?
The German American Klub of Indianapolis is our parent organization, and we are the folk dance and performance extension of it. While it is not a requirement for our performers to be members of the Klub, we strongly encourage membership so that everyone is an active supporter of the overall organization.
